“I haven’t really been feeling so well for some days now.”
“I just have a cough for some reason, and I was wondering how I was going to give my best here.”
“Honestly, the summary of it is that God carried me. I don’t even know how. But here we are.”

Usoro disclosed that she had never expected to compete in Glasgow before receiving a surprise opportunity following Brume’s withdrawal.
Rather than feeling overwhelmed, she embraced the challenge.
“I wasn’t supposed to be here, and then I found myself at the Commonwealth Games.”
“Everything has just been glory to glory from there. Then a season’s best yesterday, then another season’s best today.”

The Nigerian admitted the 2026 campaign had been one of the toughest of her career, making the silver medal even more meaningful.

“Going out there, I was just praying, ‘God help me. I just want to bring glory to your name.”

Despite celebrating the biggest outdoor medal of her career, Usoro insists there is still plenty of work ahead.
She revealed that she and her coach are already fine-tuning every aspect of her technique in pursuit of even greater achievements.
“Coach and I are working on a lot of things for now, my take-away, my take-off, my landing, so everything.”
“So I’m working on everything, and I believe one day everything is going to come together.”
Looking beyond Glasgow, she admitted she has not yet mapped out the rest of her season.
“This season has been a bit rocky. Let’s just see what else God has in store for me.”

Usoro also commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) for creating a healthier environment for Nigerian athletes, saying the improvements have helped competitors perform with greater peace of mind.
“Things have actually been getting better so far.”
“No doubt we still have a long way to go, like every other country but compared to how it used to be before, there have been lots of improvements.”
“I think at these Games, most of us were in the best mental space that we could be compared to before.”
“I know things can still be better, but I appreciate what they are doing.”
