Liverpool’s 2025-26 season didn’t go as anyone would have hoped or planned, with the Reds collapsing in head coach Arne Slot’s second year in charge but the team lucking into qualifying for the Champions League with the record lowest points total for doing so after the Premier League was given a fifth qualifying position.
Everyone just about seems to agree that the football wasn’t fun, the performances poor, the results mediocre, and that even as the season ended nobody really had any idea what the tactical identity of this side was supposed to be—or what Slot’s plans for this group are moving forward if he’s allowed to remain in charge, which all signs currently point to being the case.
With that as the background, the team at The Liverpool Offside sat down, put our heads together, and tried to put the season that was into a little bit of context while working through some of our own feelings about a very difficult year in the land of Liverpool Football Club.
