🎮 PS4 Console Light Indicators

 

The light bar on the console itself primarily indicates its power status.2

 

Color/Pattern Meaning Status
No Light The PS4 is completely powered off. Normal
Solid White The PS4 is on and operating normally. Normal
Flashing/Pulsing Blue then Solid White The PS4 is powering on. Normal
Flashing/Pulsing Orange then Solid Orange The PS4 is entering/in Rest Mode. In Rest Mode, it can charge controllers, download updates, and start quickly. Normal
Pulsing White then Off The PS4 is powering off. Normal
Pulsing Blue or Flashing White (Stuck) A system error or hardware issue (sometimes called the “Blue/White Light of Death”). Error/Issue
Pulsing Red The PS4 is overheating. Turn it off immediately and allow it to cool down in a well-ventilated area. Error/Issue

The light bar on the controller has a few different functions, mostly related to player number and battery status.

Color/Pattern Meaning Status
Solid Blue Player 1 (Default player color). Normal
Solid Red Player 2 Normal
Solid Green Player 3 Normal
Solid Pink Player 4 Normal
Solid White The controller is connected to the console (sometimes an initial pairing color). A solid white light with no response may indicate a connection issue. Normal/Issue
Flashing/Pulsing Blue The controller is attempting to connect via Bluetooth. Normal
Pulsing Yellow/Orange The controller is charging (typically in Rest Mode). Normal
Flickering/Flashing Red Low battery. The controller needs to be charged soon. Normal
Game Specific Colors Many games use the light bar to indicate in-game status, such as health (Green $\to$ Red), wanted level (Red/Blue flashing), or other specific actions. Normal
