Liverpool 1 – 0 Real Madrid

Pre-Match
A certain former Liverpool player is not starting, and that’s all I have to say about that.
First Half
It is a fast start from Liverpool, who really take it to the visitors in the opening few minutes, and it might’ve amounted for more with a different officiating crew. Alas.
Vinicius Jr. goes into the book for bringing Bradley down. I’d say run at him, but the truth is he could not literally get away with murder on the pitch and not get a second yellow.
Liverpool create the best chance of the game when Wirtz squares perfectly for Szoboszlai, but Liverpool were once again Courtois’d.
A few minutes later Madrid are called for a handball outside of the area. It looks for all the world like it’s inside the box, and VAR sent the ref to the monitor to check. I guess they bribed the right official, because not only did he determine that the handball wasn’t in the box, but also that it wasn’t a handball! Not only that!
Mad refereeing decisions aside (lolsob), it was a great first half for Liverpool, who probably deserve to be in the lead, and would be were it not for three stellar saves from Courtois (the absolute cunt).
Second Half
Liverpool finally have a breakthrough! Gravenberch wins a free kick just outside the area, Dom puts in a cross, and Alexis Mac Allister nods it home, finally beating the tall Belgian cunt between the sticks.
Anfield has been loud all night, but especially after the goal. The Reds deserve to be ahead on balance of play, but it’s going to be a long final 20 minutes to drag this one over the line if the home side can’t nab a second.
With about 15 to go, Slot brings on Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo for Macca and Ekitike. Although Macca bagged the goal, Hugo was excellent tonight, constantly providing an outlet and holding up the ball with aplomb.
And Trent comes on with about 10 to go, welcomed by a unanimous chorus of boos. Not sure wiping up the Anfield crowd to an even more ravenous fury will help your cause, but bold strategy!
Federico Chiesa and Kerkez come on for the last few minutes of regulation time, for Wirtz and Robbo. Kerkez immediately injures himself, but manages to carry on.
A special shoutout to Conor Bradley who once again planted Vini Jr. on his ass. Something about playing Real Madrid makes the Northern Irishman look like the greatest right back to ever play the game.
Final Thoughts
LIVERPOOL WINNING GAMES IS FUN! EVEN MORE FUN AGAINST FRANCO’S CLUB! UP THE REDS! WE’RE BACK BA-BYYYYYY!!!
