Week 2 of the NFL season is upon us and the action will get started on Thursday night with the Washington Commanders visiting the Green Bay Packers at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
The Commanders picked right up from where they left off in 2024 in Week 1, opening the new campaign with a 21-6 victory over the Giants last Sunday. One of the breakout performers for the offense was rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who lived up to some of his preseason hype in his NFL debut.
Below, we’ll go over JCM’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 2.
Fantasy Football analysis: Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt
JCM or “Bill” ended up impressing in his debut with the team on Sunday, registering 10 carries for 82-yards and a touchdown in the second quarter that extended Washington’s lead. That was good enough for the fourth-highest rushing total in the league in Week 1 and he ended up being a top-20 fantasy back across all scoring formats. He did this while backing up veteran Austin Ekeler, who was on the field for 10 more snaps than his rookie counterpart in the opener.
Washington’s offense will have a challenge on its hands when heading up to Lambeau Field on a short week to face a Green Bay defense that just dominated Detroit in its opener. The Packers held the Lions to just 46 rushing yards total and had the fourth-best defensive rushing EPA in Week 1. There’s reasons to be optimistic about Croskey-Merritt’s fantasy potential throughout the year, but I’d expect some regression when being matched up against a tough front-seven with just four days of preparation.
