Rennes 23-year-old left back Adrien Truffert is set to join The Cherries in a €17M transfer deal as Kerkez moves closer to joining Liverpool.

With Milos Kerkez expected to join Liverpool in the coming days, Bournemouth have been hard at work sourcing a replacement for their departing 21-year-old Hungarian left back. It appears now that Rennes’ Adrien Truffert will become his replacement.

Over the past 12 hours, widespread reports have emerged of a €17M (£14M) agreement between Bournemouth and Rennes for the player, who is now expected to join the south coast club imminently with Kerkez then likely to complete his Liverpool move.

It’s a swapping of parts that will represent a clear financial win for Bournemouth, who are believed to have stuck to their £40M valuation on Kerkez. The Cherries are believed to have paid around £18M to sign Kerkez from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023.

Truffert is both slightly older and arrives less highly regarded, as reflected in the price, but the Rennes left back is on the fringes of the French national team and if he can make the step up Bournemouth could have a high quality bargain on their hands.
